Katrina Mission : Nine members of the First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, ND traveled to New Orleans in October for mission work on two homes.  During this time we all experienced a wide variety of emotions, but as our time drew to a close we felt that we had made a difference in their lives, albeit a small one.  It is likely that 5 years from now there will still be opportunities for others to help.

Designated a World Heritage Site it is home to hundreds of different plants and animals.  Five animal species on the threantened or endangered list can be found in Yellowstone. Sunset at the Continential Divide : As I traveled toward the Continential Divide there were increasingly larger drifts of snow on the ground, some many feet thick. I was driving east toward Dubois, Wyoming on highway 287 and shot these photographs as the sun was setting in the west.  The air was clear and fresh! Colorful North Dakota : I'm a sucker for old farmsteads and yellow fields of sunflowers or canola.  I ran into this combination north of Bowman, North Dakota and west of Highway 85.  Throw in a blue sky, white cumulus clouds, a red scoria road and green grass and you have something very special!

Pembina Gorge : Found in the northeastern part of North Dakota the Pembina Gorge extends from the Canandian Border to Wahalla North Dakota.  An area of 12,500 acres of woodland border the longest unaltered river valley in the state.  The surging waters of the Pembina River have cut through the marine shale to create the Gorge. In this area of the state three different biogeographical areas emerge:  boreal forest, ester deciduous forest and the central grassland.

Sheyenne River Valley : The Sheyenne River Valley runs from north of Valley City, North Dakota southward to Kathryn, North Dakota.  It has been designated a national scenic byway.  The stretch of river running south from Kathryn to Lisbon ND is designated as a scenic backway.  The Highline Bridge is located just north of Valley City.

Our grandson: Aodhàn Andrew Murphy : Aodhàn was born on February 17, 2009, 6 pounds, 13 oz, 19 1/2 inches long.  Sarah, Colin and Aodhàn (Gaelic spelling, "Aden") are doing well.  Photos are from birth, taken by Colin, to one month.  We think he is perfect!
